Scholarships

The American Legion Family has a long tradition of supporting education and helping young people achieve their academic and career goals. Through local, state, and national scholarship programs, The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of The American Legion provide financial assistance to deserving students pursuing higher education, vocational training, and leadership development opportunities.

Whether you are a high school senior preparing for college, a current college student, or a member of a military family, there may be scholarship opportunities available to help you continue your education.

Post 364 Scholarships

The American Legion Family of Post 364 is proud to support local students through the Matthew Loren Peters Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 364.

Each year, Squadron 364 awards two $250 scholarships to eligible high school seniors and college students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and a commitment to continuing their education.

The scholarship honors Matthew Loren Peters (1954–2011), the first Commander of the Sons of The American Legion Department of Virginia and a dedicated supporter of youth programs and education.

Applications are accepted annually from January 1 through March 31.
